JAMBI (Jamoat-level basic indicators) Dataset for the Republic of Tajikistan.
Objective: to provide statistical data for analysis and programming on the local level for the 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
Format: dataset with municipality (jamoat) as a unit of observation. The dataset includes information on a large number of indicators for all jamoats in the country.
The Jamoat Basic Indicators (JAMBI) dataset is intended to assist in analysis and planning of local development interventions by providing planners with a set of key jamoat-level demographic, social, economic, and natural resources-related indicators. These indicators are of central importance to Tajikistan’s ability to pursue evidence-based planning and monitoring of local progress towards achieving national development goals and fulfilling the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
Тhe unit of observation in the dataset is the jamoat (municipality). The dataset includes information on a large set of indicators for all 427 rural and township jamoats in the Republic of Tajikistan (6,735,040 persons reside in territorial units covered by the dataset; efforts are currently under way to add information on cities to the dataset). There are about 90 indicators in the dataset that are grouped in five major categories: demography, economy, land and agriculture, social, and infrastructure and governance. The sources of data include municipal “passports”, municipal books of household records, decisions of municipal commissions on social assistance and many other sources. A source of data for each indicator is listed in parenthesis after the description of the indicator in the codebook. The data is as of 1st January 2015, unless otherwise is specified. The codebook can be downloaded here: rus tjk eng
The maps and statistics section of this web-page contains jamoat-level maps of the country and provides for interactive mapping of indicator information across all five categories of indicators. Clicking on any jamoat displays information on the set of chosen indicators for that jamoat. The section also contains other types of mapping displays of key statistics collected in the dataset. All efforts were made to ensure and verify the accuracy of displayed data; ultimate responsibility for its quality and consistency nevertheless reside with authorities/organizations issuing the data.
The analytics sections of the web-page is used for hosting analytical briefs and reports based on the analysis of JAMBI data and other related information.
The dataset was commissioned by UNDP with support from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. Data collection was conducted by the Innovation Development Center (IDC). An update of the dataset for 2017 in now under consideration.
