5 December 2017, Dushanbe – The representatives of the Ministries of the Government of Tajikistan and experts from the UN in Tajikistan have gathered today for a three-day training workshop on “Introduction to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), National Development Strategy (NDS) and UN Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) Monitoring Framework and Gender-responsive Monitoring and Evaluation Approach.” Attended by nearly 40 participants, the training aims to highlight the linkages to NDS, Mid-term Development Programme (MTDP) and SDGs in the UNDAF implementation (2016-2020).
Participants can expect to gain knowledge on the basics of M&E as well as acquire skills on the technical reporting in the design and implementation of strategies and programmes. They will also formulate strategies and suggestions to improve UNDAF M&E system for delivering better results to the people of Tajikistan.
Mr. Sultonsho Homidov, Head of the Department on Regional Development and Monitoring of Strategic Programmes from the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade opened the training by addressing the importance of the training in order to improve the skills for data collection, formulation of various reports and contribute to the monitoring and reporting of UNDAF as well as the national strategic documentation.
Ms. Sanja Bojanic, UNDP Deputy Country Director and UNDAF Coordination and M&E Group Chair said: “The theoretical and practical workshop designs based on current needs will boost practical ways to foster UNDAF, NDS and SDG implementation and point to relevant synergies and pave the way for a more integrated and gender-based approach to M&E at the country level.”
